About Bridget
Bridget (Bridie) Doyle was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Having attended a private grade school and high school, she took the leap to study at the much larger University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Here, she pursued a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition with a concentration in Dietetics along with a minor in Spanish. Although this required taking the maximum credits allowed per semester, Bridie was still able to be involved in many organizations. Her time management and organizational skills are what she contributes to her success as a student, employee, and volunteer.
In April 2013, Bridie was accepted to her first choice: the Dietetic Internship at Loyola University Chicago. During her internship program, she was introduced to a variety of areas where Registered Dietitians can work, including clinical settings, outpatient, health departments, WIC programs, long term care, food management, marketing firms, grocery stores, and research. This opened her eyes to a wide range of interests, most specifically Cystic Fibrosis and clinical nutrition. She completed her program on June 29, 2014 and passed her examination to become a Registered Dietitian on August 9, 2014.
She now works as a Clinical Dietitian at Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC) and has specialized in Lung Transplantation and Cystic Fibrosis since April 2017. Previously, she spent 2 years in LUMC's Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery ICU and step-down surgical ICU, and prior to that, worked on a general medicine floor with a focus on gastrointestinal disease. She enjoys using her clinical nutrition support knowledge to aid in the medical management of her patients while working with the medical team to optimize the patient's clinical course. To stay up-to-date on advancement in nutrition care, Bridie then attended University of Wisconsin-Madison's graduate clinical nutrition program, graduating with a Masters in Science in August 2019.
Outside of her studies, Bridie enjoys spending time with her family and friends in Chicago or up at her family's lake house in Wisconsin. She is a lover of all animals, especially her King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Hazel. She feels that travel and experiences are more important than material items and has been fortunate to explore many countries.
